Obaasan (Yuki's grandmother) is 90 years old, 4' tall, and peppy.
We went
to the supermarket and she kept disappearing on us, sprinting off down
the aisles. She's quite lucid, and told us many tales of her
young days as a rising tofu baron. When she first got married,
she had to live with her in-laws, who were wicked drunkards, so she
took the failing family business, tofu, and worked at it
ferociously. She sold tofu door to door to try to make enough
money so she and her husband could buy their own house. Her tofu
was so delicious, and she was so charming and determined, that in a few
years she was the most powerful tofu manufacturer in town.
